Can anyone identify this lovely plant that has blossomed in my garden?

It is quite tall with lots of flowers about 2 inches in diameter and has only recently bloomed. It has large "sycamore" like leaves and woody stems?

Hi Michael,
I think it's the perennial shrub "Lavatera". It blooms mid-summer to autumn, likes full sun and grows in almost any kind of soil. You can prune it back after it has finished flowering, or leave the pruning till spring and be ruthless - it'll grow back!

Michael,
I was completely wrong - it's an anemone! Also a perennial, likes sun or partial shade. Flowers late summer through autumn.
